Projects for Craft Warehouse...

For my 2nd and 3rd Craft Warehouse assignments I got to play with Jillibean Soup and Crate Paper. It was fun to play with them... We had to use the Apple Cheddar Soup.... making one card and one layout.

and the Christmas Eve Chowder Soup:

Then.... hands down one of my favorite companies is Crate Paper!
We used the Farmhouse Collection.... to make one layout and decorate a wooden plaque.

The plaque was suppose to be originally horizontal, but i switched it up a bit...

Can't wait to see what our next assignment will be... it's been so fun creating stuff for Craft Warehouse.

OK... so i have a ton of pictures and crafty/scrappy projects that I haven't posted yet.... I haven't done it because it took FFFFFFFFFOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEERRRR (insert best "smalls" from the Sandlot impression here!) Figured it out though... got a new computer... it's AWESOME! and fast! wooo hooo!

A humbling experience...

First of all, thank you so much for all the prayers and positive thoughts during my recent surgery. Who knew a pesky little gall bladder could cause so much grief.... and pain. My goodness.... This whole surgery thing has been a HUGE humbling experience. The humbleness started out right after the surgery... even getting up was painful. As an independent-lived on my own for 15 years- girl... humility does not come easy for me. My sister and mom were there to help me.... and **gross out warning**... i totally puked when i tired to go to the bathroom for the first time... my sweet nurse was like.... uh-oh... back to bed i went.

It was only an in and out procedure. So i was on my way home about 6 hours later. Mom and sister were troppers as they closed up my condo, while i slept. Then we headed to my parents house so i could re cooperate there. What a blessing. Little did I know sleeping would be hard for the 1st 2 nights... the pain from the air they blew my gut up with moves to your shoulders. Talk about painful. After I had a week of not doing anything but resting and more resting, then more resting, i went to my post op appointment and I'm healing just great. Experiencing the normal side effects of having your gall bladder out.

I've told my family a thousand and one times how thankful i am... not sure what else i can do to let them know how thankful I am... I'm going to start showing my thankfulness with making dinner tonight... I found this recipe for Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken with Fried Rice.

And then I'm going to make breakfast on Christmas Eve morning.... Impossibly Easy Breakfast Bake. Take a peek... Thankful for PINTEREST for all the great food ideas...

Holy smokes has time flown by!

Can you believe that tomorrow is December..???

I sure can't either... HOW CRAZY!

Lots happening for the month... biggest thing for me is a little surgery to take out my gallbladder... pesky little thing decided it didn't like it's nice warm home in my body. So it will be making an exit next Thursday, December 8th. If you could say some prayers for me, the doctors, nurse, and my family (they are taking care of me) I would really appreciate it....

Excited for the new Dixie Pieces Kit that I got to play with this last month... It was so right up my alley. I'll post some pictures later of all the goodies I got and the things I created!

what a great way to end my summer vacation...

This last weekend, i got to hang with some crafty ladies... We had a blast scrapbooking and just hanging out... I made some stuff...

the last 2 i had to snap quick pictures with my phone because i was meeting with Tenaya and of course they were of her cute little one!

What a terrific day I had today.... got to have lunch with Tenaya, and hold baby Aurora, then did some shopping... then home to relax... Great way to spend my last day of summer vacation... Headed up to my classroom tomorrow to work on some stuff... then thursday and friday more school stuff...

it was a rough day yesterday...

seriously... i had some seriously big decisions to make... like... do i want to tan my back side or front side... do i stay in the sun or do i go in the shade...

as you can see i was totally taxed by these decisions...

I did finish this book yesterday... having read most of it in one day!

It was a great book... I can't wait to watch the movie now...

Lately the movies and books are matching up quite nicely...

The last book/movie that i read/watched The Help...

They really did a good job of making the book into a movie...

now i'm off for a really hard day of a massage and a hair appointment (you should see my grow out... ugh!)

Tomorrow i'm headed to my friend Sherry's to hang out with her and some other girls to get crafty and scrap!

It has been a fun year teaching. I've definitely had some trying moments and really the hardest part of my job sometimes is the parents/guardians of my students. I wish sometimes they would just stand back and let things happen and consequences fall where they may... I"ve tried to take a different approach this year. That approach was to "have fun". I think i accomplished it for the most part. Hopefully next year will be fun!

Can't wait for Friday so I can start my summer break off right!

I think i'm going to try to hit some estate sales and the goodwill outlet!

2 days and a whole lot of stuff done...

more get ups... 1 more finals... 1 more set of grades to do... then a 1/2 day on Thursday... cleaning the classroom then DONE until September! WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!

A WHOLE LOT OF STUFF DONE:

That was me last night when i got home from getting my nails done.. (shellac is the best thing ever and seriously deserves it's own post! later...) I watched a little tv then was like... hmmm... i need to clean... Maybe it had to do with the marathon of "hoarders" that was currently on.... I did watch the bachelorette too...

So here is my list of things i got done yesterday after school:

1. 2 loads of laundry

2. Garbage out

3. fabric organized in cute white cabinet

4. more ruffles started for my freaking cute shower curtain
(inspiration from SeeKateSew)

5. fabric projects organized in basket

6. Found stuff to put in bag for Goodwill

I know it may not seem like a lot.. but if you've seen my fabric stash and pieces... you'll see why... plus those dang ruffles take

3 days and some sleep....

more wake ups... I cannot wait...

SOME SLEEP:

Ok... so as school winds down... my body goes into recoop mode. Meaning...for the whole week after school gets out... i sleep ALOT... So June 17th was suppose to be the of school... however mother nature and her bi-polar weather patterns added 4 days to our school year. Now... please know i'm not complaining. Really i'm not. When we had those snow days, I was SUPER productive and got TONS of stuff done around my condo....

Well... my body thought that last day of school was on the 17th because i must have slept about 14-15 hours a day this weekend. Saturday morning, I got up and went garage saling with sister and dad. Then had to go pick up my car at the dealership (sweet pea was getting major work done)... on the way over... i took a 45 minute nap in sister's car... Then Saturday night, i may have fallen asleep at 8:30pm on the couch... only to wake up at 11:30 to go to bed then at 7:30 in the morning..... Oh did i mention the 2.5 hour nap i took Sunday?! goodness.... I'm super excited to catch up on my sleep and relax and craft and have fun! Yay for 3 more wake ups!

4 days... a crazy shopping experience and a funny conversation with my dad

wake ups.... only 4 more school wake up! i'm freaking excited about it!

Shopping Experience:

Let me first preface this by saying that I know that every morning we wake up and bring to the table of "today" a plate full of things that some people don't even know about or can comprehend....

and that we all struggle with things.

After a wonderful dinner at the local Mexican restaurant with some of the ladies I teach with, I went to a local craft store yesterday to get some stuff for my classroom. While shopping, i noticed a girl talking very loud and in an obviously heated argument with the person on the other end of the phone. Well... i tried to ignore it. Really tried to ignore it, walked down other aisles to try and ignore it. But the girl kept walking up and down every aisle talking really loud... IT WAS RIDICULOUS. When i was trying to ignore her, i kept thinking...John Quinones from ABC's What Would You Do? is going to pop out of the backroom and confront me about the situation at hand. I really did see it happening as I was shopping. It was that deliberate and crazy of a situation.

So... I couldn't stand it anymore... i very nicely said to her "excuse me, maybe you could finish your conversation outside. Obviously it is a very important one and there are children in the store". (not the she was swearing, but just the rudeness of her tone and how loud she was, was quite wrong for little kids).... She waved her hand at me (like "whatever") and walked off.

She then found me again and laid into me about how I don't know what she is going through and some of us have hard lives. I said... "please do not assume anything about me. I understand we all have things to deal with. I just feel it was more appropriate for you to step outside to finish your heated conversation because I and the other people here are trying to shop." She didn't like that so much and went off again about how she lives in America and she has the right to have a conversation where she wants. I said "Yes... you do and i do too... and I like to shop in semi-quiet and not have a lady yelling at her phone so everyone in the store can hear." She continued on and it was frustrating me so much i couldn't even come up with a reply... As I was walking away she said something about "leaving my entitlement on the floor and that I should pick it up"... Entitled... REALLY! I don't feel that I'm entitled at all. I asked her how old she was (i know... immature) and she kept going...

that was me.... I totally reached my boiling point... It was so ridiculous... I understand having a good time, I understand having a bad day... i even understand needing to get your point across... but in a public place... with children around... and talking as loud as she was... goodness...

I kept thinking, is this payback for me getting angry with a couple of my students.... who knows... i do know that I was as polite as I could be.

Conversation with my dad:

I called my dad and asked him what we were doing this weekend (it being father's day and all)...

I say "going garage saling? "

He said "sure... hey... I'm looking at this ad for a scrapbooking garage sale... let me read you what it says.... it says it has a Cry-cut... "

"dad you mean a cricut... "

"yah that... then they have this slice thing... you know what that is..."

"yes dad... what else does it say..."

"well... they have adhesive... and embellishments ... whatever the hell those are... I'm guessing you know what that stuff means"

"Yes i do... so can we go to it..."

"oh sure... I'll put it on the list.."

my dad is freaking hilarious!
Excited to spend father's day with him and my family!

Whew... only 4 more days of school. I cannot wait for summer to get here... YAY!!!

more school get ups.... Hope you don't mind the count down... Not sure if you can tell that i'm excited for school to finally be done... Done with grading papers, done with attitudes from students (and parents) and done getting up everyday at 6am....

I'm excited for summer... to sleep and relax and create and hang with my family (extended family is coming from Croatia this summer... two different groups at two different times) and doing fun things with my friends...

more school wake-ups to go!

Today I received an email from my director... first it was stating that i forgot to do my attendance... but at the bottom was a great compliment about my year as a teacher... Just talked about how it seemed like i was really enjoying myself this year... and it's true.. I am really enjoying myself this year. I like teaching older kids (not freshman) because they get "it"... they can work and laugh and talk but get right back to work again! It makes my classes fun.

After that email, I signed on when I got back to my office/other classroom, and i received another email that stated that I was the winner of a $2,500 grant to get new student computers for my classroom. WOOOO HOOOO! the student computers in my classroom are slower than snot... seriously... they can turn them on, go down the the library, work on and print out their assignment and come back and it will have not loaded by then. I'm pretty sure they're from when i first started teaching in 2002! my goodness... so now I get to meet with the tech guy and pick out some computers for my classroom! YAY me!

Wednesday is almost over!

Jen and Nick's Wedding Festivities!

Jen and Nick's wedding was this weekend. We have had a fun year of festivities and it all came to an end with the celebration of Jen and Nick at their wedding in West Seattle. Here are just a couple of pictures from the fun days that we spent together. Thursday was the rehearsal and dinner. Then Friday, we met at Vida Spa to help Jen spend her $1000 gift card that she won. It was a nice little treat. After the spa, we went to dinner and then back to the hotel to relax and get to bed early. Our day started bright on Saturday with hair and makeup. It was so much fun to get all dolled up for the fun day to come.

Here is me with the amazing flowers that Jen ordered from Metropolitan Market in West Seattle. Aren't they absolutely beautiful!

We had a blast taking pictures. Keri Doolittle (originally from WA, but now in Denver) took the pictures. She seriously rocked it. She is so creative and had such a fun eye!

Aren't the pink shoes amazing with our dresses?!

Gotta stay loose and have fun while you're waiting in a small room with the other 'maids and bride and flower girls and mother's of the bride and groom.

So much fun to have Maggie and Monica (part of our 3-day family) at the wedding.

How cute are we?!

Of course it was an opportunity for a family picture. Cute mom and funny dad came along!

The coolest thing at the reception was the photo booth. We took so many pictures in it..

here we are "riding a roller coaster".... we have a couple of other cute ones!

Here is me with the one that Lexie and sister and I took.

Pam took an artistic picture of our bouquet and the pictures of us with Jen. The middle one is by far my favorite as we took one of the same poses on our 5th friendship anniversary... (we did meet online after all!!!!)

The whole weekend was wonderful. I was so honored that Jen and Nick asked me to be apart of their special day (weekend). What wonderful friends they are!

WOOOO HOOOOO! i have been really patient with the whole fixing of the pipe and hole in wall thing that started February 13th with a broken water pipe upstairs. I was able to shower this week in my shower. Only out of it for 8 weeks... (yes you read that correctly). So all that is left is the walls to be sanded down, textured and repainted...

I CANNOT wait to put my decorations back in there and be able to be at home in my bathroom. I'll post pictures of the finished look as soon as I get it finished. I have all the stuff ready to go, just waiting for the last part to be done...

I love being a home owner!

gotta love the Goodwill Outlet....

So... if you don't have one by you, or you've never been... you must go to the Goodwill Outlet if you get a chance... Have i talked about them before... I'm sure i have... anyway... if you are patient and don't mind sifting through stuff you could come away with treasures like this.... all for UNDER $17....

i didn't put my vintage umbrella in there... but it did have a tag on it from an antique store that said $24.99... i got it from under $2! I KNOW!

Just crazy....

(because i go frequently... it's hit or miss) one barrel (the most expensive thing at $2.55), a cute picture frame, a strainer, a cute teal bowl, old sifter, vintage hair piece, 4 pink (i know) bowls, a shaker, a green candle stick holder (that will get a new color on Wednesday), an 8-cup muffin tin, 2 scarves, 4 dresses/shirts for fabric, the suitcase and 40 (YES 40) ties (to teach my students to tie them in my independent living class).

So... whatdaya think? Did i score or what?!

still under construction... (UGH)

yes... that is the status of my bathroom... going on week 4 with no shower... so thankful that Jen is letting me shower at her house... I had to stop construction on my place because it was looking not so good... I'm just really not happy with how it is turning out. And after talking it over with some friends and colleagues, they made a good case... If it's not finished to how you want it, you will get so annoyed EVERY TIME you look at it, it will just tick you off.

So, I have a call into my HOA guy, Larry, to get back to me when he gets back in town this Wednesday. He was a great help at the beginning. I'm hoping that he'll be able to come over and take a look at things and get them fixed QUICKLY!

Hopefully, I'll have more news after Wednesday. I'd sure like to be able to take a shower in my own shower one of these days!

A funk and some construction

Have you ever been in a funk... just feel blah, no motivation, no mojo, feeling like you have creativity? I am so there right now...

I talked to my friend Kim about it and she's been feeling the same way. I've scrapbooked and been crafty, but only when i hung out with Kelli and Laurie... i just don't have the motivation to get anything done around my house...

Maybe it's the lack of Vitamin D in the northwest... so my solution....

a little supplement to get that back in full swing.

My goodness... I am so tired of it...

And now i' have a bathroom that is under construction... not by my choice believe me... the pipe broke in my neighbors condo above me... and water was running down the wall for 1 hour and 45 minutes....

so my bathroom is torn apart, I am not able to take a shower or bath... no that does not mean i will be a stinky girl... my friend Jen is going to let me use her bathroom.... what a lifesaver!

I am so excited to get away this weekend to a scrapbooking retreat! definitely need some crafting, creative, girl time!

Word for 2011... and some ideas...

I'm not a huge fan of making new years resolutions....
things to change/do/accomplish....
so I'm making a Goals for 2011 list.
I think putting it down on paper will help...
that way I can cross things off when they are complete!

I have a bunch of ideas of things that I want to tackle...
most of them creative, a few personal, all of them are definitely fun....

I've been a little lazy in taken pictures this year.
I have some, but i feel like when i look back at my year, I've missed out on a lot of pictures that I could've taken... Mostly cause my sister and I have the same camera... I always am like "oh you can just take pictures sister"... then I forget to get them from her....

Another one: A while back Ali Edwards started this One little word thing....
I started thinking about this the other day when i saw a friend post about it on facebook... what would my word be for the year... i figured it out... i think....

PURPOSEFUL....

yep... that's my word. dictionary.com defines it as:

pur·pose·ful
–adjective
1. having a purpose.
2. determined; resolute.
3. full of meaning; significant.

I think it'll be a great word for 2011....

And another creative adventure is in the works...

I feel like i'm always apologizing for not keeping my blog updated... I really do have every intention of doing so... I promise... but I always find other things to do. I haven't been creating much either. My mojo and motivation to create sort of went out the window when somethings (creatively) happened. Kind of discouraging. I'm looking forward to 2011 and all the possibilities, both creatively and personally, that it will bring.

It's been a wonderful break so far... well... minus one thing... (more later)...

I"ve been shopping... made it to the gym (a little competition at my gym is my motivation!).... family time and naps... lots of naps... one everyday really... it's been wonderful... Today was a very relaxing day: breakfast was wonderful, celebrated Christmas with our present time this am, a nap, tried to create some stuff, then dinner was DELISH! Tomorrow is a fun day of shopping starting early. Mom, sister and I are going... we've got our list made of things to get (at super duper discounts!)....

The bad thing this Christmas Break.... is THIS.

My sweet Auntie Kay passed away on Tuesday December 21st. She was 95 years old... YES YOU READ THAT CORRECT... 95 years old. I have a layout (that i'm not sure why i didn't post it yet) of me and sister with her at my cousin Michael's wedding. It is a WONDERFUL picture and i will treasure it forever. She was an amazing lady. I want to be sad because she is not here anymore, but I can't because she would ALWAYS say she didn't know why she was still here. Everyone that she lived and grew up with passed away a long time ago... my grampy passed away in 2003....

Things to remember about Auntie Kay... She made some seriously delicious croation desserts (grease balls, crustulahs (sp), etc). She always watched the Mariners, wherever/whenever they were playing and you couldn't call her during the games because you would interrupt her, she always had something cooking or baking when you came over, she had this couch (up until a couple of years ago) that no matter if you were well rested or not when you sat down on the couch you fell asleep. There are many more things that I will certainly miss about her but that is what i can think of now....

really.... it's been that long since i posted on my blog... i need to work on that...

lots happened this last month..... Let's see.... I went to see Lady Antebellum at WaMu Theater in Seattle... It was AMAZING... they seriously rocked... Later that next week, i saw Tyrone Wells... Dang that guy rocks! He's coming back for a New Year's Eve Concert that i'm seriously contemplating going to! i keep hearing and seeing commercials for it... That next day i went with sister and Jen to go dress shopping for her wedding... we found the perfect dress at Alfred Angelo... it is totally her and totally "fun" (the theme for her and Nick's wedding).

I had a scrapbook retreat weekend with some of the funnest girls ever! We had a blast creating and having fun... lots of laughs for sure! Good for the soul! Then Snow... (more on that later) then thanksgiving and shopping at 12midnight at Wal-Mart... what a zoo....

Then November is over and December is here... It's just crazy!

A little challenge with my friend Bethany to use our Cosmo Cricket cira1935 product... here's what i came up with... loving my new punch from Marvy... it makes the cutest pennants!

It snowed last week... big time for us here in Western Washington... all schools (well pretty much all) were cancelled for Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It is a catch 22. While i loved having the extra days off... (that sleep sure felt good), it's bad because we have to make up those 2 days in June... UGH!

Off to run some errands for school, a quick meeting, then the gym... hopefully to bed early for me tonight... I need it!

2 challenges = 1 layout!

So... i scrapbooked again...what is with me... I know right.... but the funny thing is it makes me sleep better... is that wierd?. When I come home from school... after running errands and going to the gym.... sitting down and creating helps me de-stress...

Here is a layout I made for 2 challenges... one is the American Crafts Boy Challenge... and the other is Dixie Pieces Glee #6... The AC challenge was to make a boy layout using some AC stuff... so I used 2 patterned papers (one a side and one b side - green dots), cardstock, and ribbon. The title is from Dixie Pieces - Oh Boy!

Scrapbooking:

It seems like forever since i've scrapbooked... With the exception of completing my class assignment for Hip2bsquare and some things for Urban Scrapbooker... I"ve been in a slump... Nothing like some challenges to get you out of that slump.... here are some pages I made this week!

pretty sure it's a Halloween picture... or at least i hope it is!!!!

I used some of the enchanted line and of course some thickers... I created this layout for the Crate Paper challenge and glee challenge #5 over at Dixie Pieces.This one is for the for the sketch challenge over at My Mind's Eye and the Glee challenge at Dixie Pieces. Apparently I can't read the directions correctly because I needed to use black... oh well.. i like how it turned out and it got me scrappin! I did this last layout for the glee challenges over at Dixie Pieces.

The Weather:

So... it's freezing out... yes i just said that.. I'm never cold and recently thought about turning on my heat in my condo.... that is how cold it's been. I see a really snowy winter in our future... i just keep chanting... 2hour late starts... 2hour late starts... 2 hour late starts!

Life:

Things have been crazy... I feel like i got thrown in to school starting. Having to unpack boxes from both my condo and classroom... I"m finally getting settled into both. Back into my routine which makes me happy... Dang i hate when things go whack-a-doodle.

School:

Has been a lot a bit crazy. For the most part, my classes are awesome. but I have one class that has really tested me and my teaching style, patience, character, etc. If you could say some prayers... i would really appreciate it. This is going to be a test for me...

Seriously love Good Fortune! I found out about it from my friend Stephanie...

I got this deliciousness in the mail a week ago.... and finally got to enjoy it!

My job (as a teacher) is pretty stressful at times... especially starting out the beginning of the year... and this red apple lavender soap is WONDERFUL... i love that it is soothing and very relaxing. It's that lavender scent that drew me to the soap in the first place. I love all things that help me to relax after a hard day of molding and shaping today's youth!

I love that it was a girls faith in God's ultimate plan that lead her to start Good Fortune... not to mention continuing to help others. She uses ingredients that are good for your skin and is conscience about the earth while producing a great product! You should definitely go get some HERE!

anxious really... for the new year to start...

I don't know why i don't learn this and get some decent sleeping drugs from my doctor... or just take my valerian at a reasonable hour so i can get enough sleep...

so here i am at 11:30 the night before school starts... wide awake freaking out about what the year will hold.... i always get this way and haven't figured out a way to deal with it.... i tried to go to bed... but the thoughts kept coming... and then the tears... really tears... i couldn't believe it... just realization that I have another year done of teaching.... and lots happening in my life.... puts things in to perspective as i start a new year that I need to enjoy things a lot more.... not take life to seriously... and to have fun....

so... with the no sleeping... i opened my bible to the index and looked up anxiety/anxious.... it said "see worry"... no kidding... worry.... cause that's what i'm doing... i'm worrying about all the students that will walk in to my room and praying that i'll be able to make a difference in their lives... or that if i'm stern or have high expectations of them, they will take it as someone who is caring and not a teacher being a B!tCh.... I try to put myself in their shoes... knowing they're just as scared as I am... no comfort there...

so... anyway... i read Philippians 4:6-7.... "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your heart and your mind .... " I love the footnotes my bible has... in one of them about that verse it says.... Whenever you start to worry, STOP AND PRAY!.....

That is exactly what i'm going to do right now and tomorrow as I start and go through my day.... because goodness knows it's not going to be me getting myself through tomorrow.... God has this one...

I know I don't vent about "deep" things, but thanks for reading... and if you think about it while you're out and about tomorrow.... send up a prayer or positive thought for me!

yep... that's me... after a freaking long trip across the ENTIRE state of Washington... i finally pulled into Spokane around 7:30.... i may have left my house at 11:30.... i of course took my time getting over here.... had to stop at the post office, the mall, made some stops at some stores(scrapbook, outlet mall), a couple of stops to stretch and get something to drink..... I them got all checked-in and made my way (with mapquest directions in hand) to the SONIC!!!! I got a cherry limeade... my goodness it was delicious... i see a couple more in my future this week as i'm here for my conference!

Here are some layouts and a mini that I have been working on... (thanks to my friend Stephanie for the inspiration on the little mini!) I turned these in for the design team call over at Hip2bsquare scrapbooking. It's a cute little store in Snoqualmie, WA.... just 45-50 minutes away from me.... although I didn't make the team, I was asked to be a guest designer and possibly teach some classes... woooo hoooo!

first of all... creation festival was AWESOME!

i had a blast working with my friends on the Medical team.

We helped lots of people (nosebleeds, twisted ankles, even an Achilles tendon that was 50% lacerated - poor girl - she was '10 graduate from LSHS where i teach... such a small world).

It is like a camp high when you get back to the real world and have to face the reality of not being around people who are uplifting and fun and crazy and hardworking.... which did make me cry a bit on Sunday. It's that unconditional support... a hug, a smile, a helping hand. It makes me wonder why can't the real world be like that?

I did get to see switchfoot and needtobreathe... i got to hear all the other bands though, since our medical tent was RIGHT behind the main stage... I have to admit the day that they were testing the new generator and base was my least favorite. Dr Dan measure it in his camper while checking his email... it was 96... i'm not sure exactly what that means... but i'm guessing it's not good... the whole control trailer and inside building were shaking... it was CRAZY! You know what i mean when someone pulls up next to you or behind you and they have crazy high base... well.. take that and maximize it by about 100... it was INSANE!

I did get some scrapbooking done before I went to creation...
i'll post it soon (been working on a project or 2 and need to keep my fingers crossed).

Not too much exciting going on.... and i'm completely ok with that!!!

So... i'm heading to Creation Fest in the morning....

Here is a picture from 2 or 3 years ago... gotta love the muffs (really big head phones).... they make it a little bit easier to hear while down at the stage....you wouldn't think so with the ear plugs in either... but it does! hahahahahahaha!cool thing this year is that it's at the Enumclaw Expo Center in Enumclaw.... I'm not going to lie... i'm super excited for not so much heat.... i've been drinking lots of water for the last couple of weeks, so no dehydrating for me this year....

This pictures below is of my cute little car last year.... In just the back seat (not the very back either!!!), there was 25 cases of pop, water and juices.... I know... my car rocks.... she did go a little faster after this was unloaded.... don't underestimate the element.... I'm super excited for what God has in store for me this week!

Estate sale goodies.... all for the low price

of $10.... I thought it was a SCREAMING deal for all of these goodies... The place sister and I found this stuff at was in Edmonds, just right down I5 from me... it was a hoarders house... seriously full to the brim with things.... we really had to search for things, but that is the whole thrill of estate sales... needless to say i was super pumped to find this stuff...

Some of it i will keep... like some of the patterns, the camera, scarf, candlestick holders and a few of the other things... the rest of it will go in my etsy store.... now that i'm on summer vacation, I am trying to get it up and running... lots of planning and pictures to take to make sure things look great and will sell of course....

Catching up!

I have been going through stuff as i'm getting settled in to my condo and i came across some layouts. Here is one that I made with Crate Paper. At CHA they gave Jennifer some 4x4 samples of one of the lines and this is what I came up with.Here is my layout for the challenge over at Twilight Paper Cut .
I can't wait to see what else people come up with! Get those layouts posted!
I went and saw Eclipse.... yes at midnight...
well... the night started a bit earlier than that (6:30pm to be exact).

Shelly, Laurie and I went to see Twilight, New Moon, then Eclipse.... Here are some conclusions that I came up with from seeing all 3 movies last night....

1. I am too old to sit in a theater for 8 hours watching movies.

It was tough going to get up and get moving around... my word!

2. There are male twilight fans out there! They will make sure you know they are there by yelling at the top of their lungs (as the New Moon starts) TEAM JACOB!

3. It was totally worth the $10 (and a little ache in my rear) to see the first two movies just so we didn't have to wait in line and then scramble/run around the movie theater trying to find seats for the movie!

4. There are people out there way crazier than I (and my friends are) am about this whole twilight thing....

All 16 theaters were playing eclipse last night at 12:01....

So... what are your plans for this fun long weekend?

I have some scrapping in the plans, as well as making some wedding programs for a friends wedding coming up in July (eeek.... that's crazy that July is tomorrow!) and then of course relaxing.

I was outside getting something out of my car for my friend Laurie and then we saw the UPS truck pulling in... I was jumping up and down cause i'm so excited to get this cute duvet... I"m pretty sure the UPS guy thought i was crazy and stalking him... I so wasn't!

So... i'm off to finish going through boxes... i feel like i've been going through them for forever, but i gotta get something done...

that i update my blog....

in the last month there has been a TON of stuff going on....
as you know i bought a condo... is it done yet... NO! i still have quite a bit of stuff to either put away or get rid of... the latter has been my best bet these days. The guy at the goodwill donation garage and i will be on first name basis here soon!

sister and I got in a car accident on I-5... in south Seattle, we weren't going very fast as there was another accident ahead of us... we were only doing 10-15mph... we're ok.. i was driving sister's car (her car's name is Daphne) when a semi-truck almost hit us moving into our lane... i honked and got around him... then the next thing i know.... a Mercedes is running into the back of us... hit from behind by the semi-truck... now i was uncharacteristically calm during the whole thing (i know right!).... and... i may or may not have called the guy a POS and told him to stay away from us... I was frustrated... sister may or may not have yelled at him a little harsher... (she said she felt bad and wanted to apologize.... i told her to just ask for forgiveness for it!).... turns out the semi-truck driver was arrested later that night for a DUI!... REALLY?!!!!! while we were waiting, the statey told me he couldn't "write idiot tickets any more"... the semi truck driver tried to blame us.... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

Mercedes guy, sister and i are still all really sore (stupid big-semi-truck-driver) and i am getting massages and adjustments 2-3 times a week.... it is amazing how much pain and discomfort can be caused by such a slow moving accident... daphne is at the auto body shop... she has a lot of damage. new exhaust system (cause of the way the Mercedes hit us) and a new back door... new tire hitch... the list goes on... hopefully this will be resolved soon...

on to other exciting news....
i am down to just 6 more school wake-ups.... did you read that.... SIX MORE SCHOOL WAKE UPS! my gosh it is going to feel so good to sleep and not have to wake up to an alarm. to be able to cook, create, relax and just "BE" in my condo.... i'm looking forward to it....

i'll be taking some after pictures soon and will post before, during and after pictures so you can see all the work my family (mom, sister and dad) and a couple of friends did.... I seriously have no clue how we did it all... my family and friends totally rock!

off to teach today's youth....

I'm a homeowner..... The notary that helped me with my paperwork was totally fun and even mentioned that we should take this picture.... fun huh?! I get my keys tomorrow....

The picture is of the deed to my condo... I am so super excited to get in and get it fixed up. Mom and Dad are coming up and with the help of sister and friend Kelli, we're going to get the carpet ripped out and paint and put down laminate....

I'm seriously so excited to get into my condo and have it be mine!

a busy crazy week....

Yep... it has been super crazy busy... On Thursday, I got an email from Jennifer that Lasting Memories was closing it's doors after 14 years... I was seriously saddened at the news, not only because it was the place i got all my cute scrapbooking stuff... but more that it was where some of the co-workers I had met, have now become some of my closest friends. It really is sad and i've cried a few times because of it... i've been working at the store the last couple of days and will continue to work until they don't need me anymore...

It has been such a joy to work there for 3 years, even if my (first) last day was almost a year ago... i've been enjoying being back in the store... ringing people out (it's like riding a bike... you never forget that register stuff)... and visiting with co-workers and favorite customers! I really don't know what else to say..... i'm at a loss for words (that never happens)....

Stop by in you're in the area... there is still a ton of stuff being delivered everyday (CHA orders still rolling in!).... so there is ALWAYS new stuff going out... check out the Lasting Memories Blog for more info and updates on the newest product coming in....

So i have this book... it's a "inspiration/idea" book that my sister got me a while ago...

I have ideas in it for my scrap space... had ideas for a future place... But now...it has ideas and measurements for "my" condo.... it is full of paint samples and ideas for things I can put in my new rooms.... like this... from pottery barn! However at $129... it might be out of my price range... good thing have a dad that likes to build things!!!!! oh dad....

I've picked out colors to paint... I really like the red interior that is already there... so i'm going to freshen it up... with a paint like glidden's red delicious... and it is delicious! I really like the idea of a color like glidden's awning or araucanan teal... for one wall in the bathroom.... it is just beautiful... then throughout the rest of the condo... maybe a tan color...

i really want to do put the thick white molding around the whole place, but my inspection guy told me that anything i put in there would be a lesser quality then what is in there now... and that i would save around $800 by just leaving it how it was... he did say I could paint it... so i may do that... i want that contrast on the walls..... i have lots of stuff i'd like to get (especially at Ikea - expidit shelving unit!) but know that everything right now is not possible.

They still have to do the appraisal to do, but i'm on the downward slope. I even gave my landlord my 30 days notice... which it still looks like i'll have to pay for the whole month of May unless someone rents it really quickly! I'm super excited and blessed that my sister and parents are going to come up and help me paint and lay the new flooring down... (laminate)... I'm getting really excited... just crossing my fingers and praying this is it....

I didn't really think that being a traveling teacher would effect me as much as it has... i think my creativity is suffering from it... I finally found some mojo with a kick in the rear from Amy Tangerine and her challenge over at American Crafts. The challenge was to use the Abode collection... Here is what i came up with....

I have a fun weekend planned.. going to go to a scrapbooking day with some girls i haven't seen in a while... i'm hoping to get a lot done!

It's been a long time.....

But here i am... with only 48 days of school left.... woo hooo (of course that doesn't include weekends..... but those are fun days anyways...).... SO... i had spring break and got to go see Tyrone Wells at the Triple door... .it was amazing...and we got to meet some incredible people in line of all places... Then... our neighbor Tracey, my mom, sister and I went to the Tulip Fields in Mount Vernon/La Conner... they were freaking beautiful... here is sister and i for a self portrait!

I have lots going on, but am so thankful to get back into the swing of my routine. I was sick before spring break... then had spring break... then just got back from 4 days over in Wenatchee for FCCLA state leadership conference.

Mojo... i found you!!!!...

it took some challenges over at SCRAPPERIE to get it rolling, but i got it...

This is a layout for a lyric challenge... i used tyrone wells lyrics.... This layout is for a scrap-the-person-above-you challenge.
I got to lift the super fun KimT.....
I had a great weekend, although i got sick (no bueno for sure)...
I made $225 at the garage sale, i got to hang out with fun girls for the afternoon. Sunday I got blood drawn, still trying to figure out what is the matter with me....ugh!
then headed over to Kelli's to be crafty for the afternoon... It was a lot of fun....

i am so not feeling well now and will be heading home right after 2nd period today to sleep... Why oh why do i have to not feel well right before spring break....

Need some inspiration or a swift kick in the rear to get your mojo flowing... (i know I do... where oh where did you go mojo?!) Head over to SCRAPPERIE.COM for some MARCH MADNESS! (not the basketball kind!) There are some great challenges already up and there will be more to come today and throughout the weekend!

My challenge is a fabric one...
Time to bust out that fabric and add it to your layouts! Don't have any fabric... not to worry....if you have a distressing tool (my fav is the the heidi swapp pink pac-man one!), you can distress your paper so it looks like fabric.... Here are some layouts that I made using fabric... this one is ALL fabric... (NO PAPER!)

and this has a little bit o' fabric under the chipboard flower!

I'm offering up a RAK for mine... as well as the other Tres Chic Girls with their challenges!

Can a girl get a break... seriously... as if traveling between 2 schools isn't enough... let's throw in multiple schedules on different days with 1-hour late starts and don't forget the state testing that is taking place now.... This is how frustrated I am!!!!

Hopefully this will lead to some other opportunities for helping others and making some extra cash....

Ok... so i finally got my layouts fixed and am ready to get them loaded..... Here is some of what I did this weekend...

my super crafty, creative friend Tamara....My first time masking: using a guitar i cut out of the cricut! Meeting the Fray at 'bucks.

Fun at the fray concert....The PINK concertWe played a grab bag game on Sunday night. You had to put 8 things in a big brown paper bag (there were 8 of us there!)... then you had to pull out 1-2 things at a time until you had 8 items. You then had to create a layout using the "stuff" you got. You could add other things to it,
but you HAD to use a piece of whatever you picked.

Here is my BEFORE pictures with my "picks".... Here is what I came up with... My new favorite is Glimmer Mist.....some inspiration from a magazine my sister had...

a wonderful weekend....

That's what I had... a wonderful weekend away, hanging with the girls at the Winter Scrapbooking Extravaganza.... got some stuff created and had a blast... not sure I've laughed that hard in a long time... I think the "cherry on top" was Sunday night when there were just 8 of us left, and Tami showed us the pure genius invention of scotch tape as an instant chin lift! OH MY GOODNESS! And she prefaced it by saying "it doesn't even show up on pictures!" We laughed so hard... to the point where 3 of us had to go use the restroom 'cause we were going to pee our pants! it was freaking hilarious!

Lots of pages to get uploaded... I'll get on those this week. I got a lot of stuff done and was super pleased with all i did!

My car is packed....

and i am ready to go. I'm hitting the road to head to my parents tonight then tomorrow am... I'll be pulling into a camp to scrap the weekend away with some of girlfriends. Some i haven't seen since the last retreat.... I'm really excited to just be away from life and just get to scrappin'. I have lots to do. A couple of weeks ago i made a list of layouts that I wanted to complete for the weekend.... it's super long for sure! But i know I'll get a good chunk of it done.

The nice thing about the place we're going is that it's in the middle of nowhere... OK... 15 minutes from really anywhere... we have a big room just for us to scrapbook all weekend and dorms that sleep a ton... so i for sure see a nap in my future plans this weekend.

I did bring my workout stuff as well... if the weather breaks, I'm going to go for a walk. I feel so much better now that I've been going to the gym more. I stinken love my gym... Anytime Fitness in Lake Stevens. It is AWESOME because there are NO kids under the age of 18 allowed. It's a wonderful atmosphere.

Back to my weekend.... I should mention i have a 4 day weekend. Because of President's Day on Monday, my district has given us the Friday before so we can have a little break. Spring Break seems so far away.... I have my car packed... (which was a lot easier to do than i thought it was going to be), groceries for my part of food for the weekend bought... now to just wait for 2:30 when i can leave work to head on a ferry to meet my sister.

Hopefully, I'll have lots of layouts to post when I get back.

So i've been working on some stuff for over at Scrapperie.... Book of me stuff... here are my layouts...

This was for my word of the year... (a la Ali Edwards ) I picked BALANCE.... figured it was perfect for traveling between 2 schools and life going crazy...

Some goals for the year that i have for both personal and professional - in teaching and scrapbooking
And then... my favorite color combo.... (red, limey green and aqua/turquoisey!)

Started a new semester today, that means 120 new students... it was a little crazy... just going to have to lay down the law and have more strictness tomorrow! No nice lady here (for a while at least!)....

The end is in sight....

Yes... that's right... i have one more day with my students then i get a whole new batch. Having semester classes has it's advantages for sure. Today my 2nd period really surprised me by saying how much they were going to miss me... this is the class that talked non-stop with some of the biggest characters (and not in a good way for the most part) . It was quite surprising for sure!

Super excited to relax a bit this weekend....

First... headed to see this...with my sister and friend Laurie on friday night...Then, on Saturday, I get to meet up with some friends to wind some of this goodness....

I found a SMOKIN' deal on this baker's twine (you can find it HERE.) So me and some other girls went in on it together and now we are each the owner of 180 yards of 6 different colors... (just and FYI there are like 3200 yards on each spool).... It was just too good of a deal to pass up...

After the winding par-tay... i'm headed home to get some dt stuff done... have a couple of projects i'll be working on... my mojo is back... i'm super inspired by all the goodness that came out of CHA this winter... NOW... if it would just get to the store so i could buy it! grrr...

Church on Sunday and maybe the gym... then home....

Leaning on God...

I was having a bad day last week.

Realizing that I can't control everything in my life as much as really want to ( i like knowing what's going on and having control over it... heck.. who doesn't!). In fact... i can control very little, but God has full control (I just have to give up my tiny little hand on it). After 2 friends prayed for me (thanks sarah and heather)... i began to feel that sense of relief... relief of worry, fear, sadness, loss, all of it... and i began to feel hope... hope for happiness, love, friendship, me....

One of my favorite songs right now is from Everyday Sunday: It's called Stand Up... I find myself blasting it in my car or classroom (teee heee!) and just signing along... here is one of my favorite parts:

I will stand up now, I will not step down.

I will do my best to wear this crown,

but I need You as You guide me through today.

I hope and pray your day is going well... I'm off!

Ok... well... i got an email last week from the wonderful Christina Padilla seeing if I wanted to participate in the fun challenge blog that is all things Twilight.... HELLO... how perfect is that... but don't fret you non-twilighters (are you out there... really?!)... each challenge has a non-twilight themed challenge as well!

TIES TO HAITI

As the pictures are rolling over the screen of the devastation in Haiti... Dr. Dan is headed to Haiti. He and the rest of the team from Medical Teams International will land in Haiti Friday am if they can get a flight in. Dr. Dan is a family doc in Kitsap County. I know him through CMRT (Christian Medical Response Team). CMRT is the medical team that I volunteer on during the summer. I've volunteered with the team for almost 10 years. Please say some prayers for the Medical teams and relief that is headed to Haiti. They could for sure use some prayers and positive thoughts headed their way! And i know they appreciate it so much!

love me some Christmas Break...

well... I'm loving my Christmas Break for sure... It's been super relaxing at my parents... Totally different from last year with all the snow we had... None this year... I'm crossing my fingers and praying for a little bit of snow... i mean... come on... Portland got blasted yesterday!!!!

A little stress this vacation for me came in the form of the color grey.... i need to get in to see my hair lady asap... yup... i found my first grey hair.... kind of traumatic for me. Really... it was... I think the whole traveling between 2 schools has had something to do with it!

I'm really sad that I'm down to 4 days left of my break... it's been nice to just sleep and relax and hang with the family....

ah... Christmas break...

I was super freaking excited when the bell rang at 2:10pm today... it officially means i'm on Christmas break.... woooooo hooo! 2 weeks of relaxing and scrapbooking and sleeping and family time with NO students or work! I started off my vacation with a little trip to Michael's, a couple thrift stores and a 2-hour nap..... perfect way to start off my days off.... Creative dad and cute mom! They went on a date afterwards to go see "Blindside".... they loved it.

Starting off my first official day of Christmas break with some scrapping... a visit to downtown Snohomish... then to Warm Beach to see the beautiful Christmas lights...

Really hoping to hear from my realtor soon... i've been praying about it and haven't really been stressing too much about it... it's at the front of my mind now because of my neighbors... (if you pray... please say a prayer for me... )

Just getting ready for the holidays... i've made my December Daily album... still working on it... but i really like how it's turning out so far... I'll post pics when i'm done with some actual pages. lots of journaling and keeping things from everyday so i can make this album really wonderful!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!....

I am so super excited that my friend Laurie introduce me to this cherry limeadey goodness. With Sonic so far away... (ferndale or puyallup being 1.5 hours away....) this is the next best thing.....

It seriously tastes like the cherry limeade from Sonic... So super delicious... it made me happy!

This week is off to a great start... last week was so flippin' crazy... full moon and all the weirdos out... seriously stressful for me.... This week should go by quickly... and i have fun stuff to look forward to this weekend! yay!

Oh i am so glad that the weekend is here...
for reals... this has been a crazy stressful week...
That big full moon didn't help matters either

sounds like a great weekend, huh?! Oh yah.,... i'm doing a december daily mini too... so this stuff will be perfect to add to it! WOO HOOOO!!!!

Lots going on....

It's been a hard couple of days here in the Northwest... Sunday morning as my mom, sister and I were leaving church to head home my dad called us to let us know that 4 officers had been killed by a guy in Lakewood (right by Tacoma).... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This happening just one month after Seattle's Office Brenton was killed... I honestly was sick to my stomach.... i just can't comprehend what would lead someone to do this kind of thing...

It makes my heart hurt... i've been praying alot... for the families of the fallen officers....for the lakewood police family and other agencies helping in this whole situation. i'm not sure if my students really get what is happening... if they truly understand the effect this will have on their future... of course they only think about themselves now... why wouldn't they...

Then... a mukiliteo teacher was killed in a car accident (his wife and 2 family friends as well were killed) on Sunday night... caused by a drunk driver blowing through a stop sign at an intersection on hwy 9 (runs parallel to I5).

it's hard to put on a happy go lucky face and try to be so upbeat when so many bad things are happening in the world so close to home (and not close to home). I have to remember that I am not in control of this stuff... and GOD has full control of everything. Not that i didn't know that before... but it's been more and more evident lately. I'll cry some more about these situations... while giving it to God... Not sure what else to say... trying to get out of this funk and maybe the blue sky and sunshine will help a little (tee hee!)...
